ABOUT US
BACKGROUND
Nerja Decorative and Fine Arts Society (Nerja DFAS) was established in October 2002 as an independent member society of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) in the UK, after beginning in December 1993 as the Eastern section of the Costa del Sol Decorative and Fine Arts Society which was founded in Mijas in November 1988.NADFAS has over 300 societies throughout the UK, and there are now 10 Societies within Mainland Europe and 24 in Australia. Together they represent a worldwide membership of over 90,000.

The season of activities runs from October to May. The principal content is a programme of 8 illustrated monthly lectures held at the Centro Cultural, Calle Granada, Nerja. These cover a wide range of artistic, historical and cultural topics given in English by lecturers from the UK.

WHAT DO WE DO?
We offer monthly lectures related to the Decorative and Fine Arts. We provide high-quality lectures given by established experts, who are authoritative but entertaining. Each season has eight 'standard' lectures plus 3 'extra' lectures, the latter being given by local experts. Non-members are welcome to attend these lectures.Travel and social events
In addition to the lectures, Nerja DFAS arranges guided tours to various parts of Spain, as well as social and cultural activities.There is a dinner after each lecture; the venue varies but the cost is always around 20€. Everyone is welcome, but you must book beforehand with the dinners co-ordinator - see the social page for more information.
We have recently started holding an 'Arts Quiz' - a light-hearted event with something for everyone.
Non-members are welcome to attend these events for a small additional charge. However there is a maximum number for most events (we may be limited to a certain number of seats on the coach for example), and our policy is that members have priority over non-members in booking our events.Members receive a twice-yearly local Newsletter as well as the NADFAS Review from NADFAS House, London.
